2599 contestants compete on the same stage at the highest level vocational skills event in Sichuan, delivering impressive results

From September 14th to 16th, the final of the 7th Sichuan Craftsman Cup Vocational Skills Competition and the 4th National Skills Competition Sichuan Provincial Selection Competition was successfully held in Nanchong, marking the successful conclusion of the two month long competition. The theme of this competition is "Skills Illuminate the Future, Craftsmanship Builds Dreams in Tianfu", hosted by 12 provincial-level units including the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Sichuan Province, and organized by the People's Government of Nanchong City. The competition has a total of 85 competition events, attracting 2599 contestants to participate in the preliminary round and 1638 contestants to reach the final, setting multiple records such as the highest standard, the most events, and the longest duration in Sichuan Province.

As the highest level provincial-level comprehensive vocational skills competition in the province, this event is the first to hold the national selection competition in parallel with the "Sichuan Craftsman Cup", greatly enhancing the attractiveness and value of the event. The competition is set to accurately connect with key industries such as advanced manufacturing, digital economy, and modern agriculture, and actively integrate new technologies and tracks such as artificial intelligence and intelligent drones. At the same time, the competition has established a more flexible promotion mechanism. The top 6 teams in each project will enter the provincial training team for a six-month training assessment. The winners will represent Sichuan and compete for the national finals in Hangzhou in July next year, as well as the qualification for the World Championship training, providing a clear growth ladder for young skilled talents.

On the field, the power of youth becomes the absolute mainstay. The award-winning contestants cover 21 cities (prefectures) in the province, with an average age of only 24 years old. The proportion of young contestants under 35 years old is as high as 87.6%, fully demonstrating the youthful vitality and industrial adaptability of Sichuan's skilled talent team. In the fierce competition, Zhang Song from Chengdu Aircraft Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. won the first prize in the unmanned aerial vehicle (plant protection) project with solid foundation, achieving an effective transformation from the enterprise's industrial advantage to the skill competition advantage. He Keyun, a participant from Dazhou Vocational and Technical College, won the first prize in the digital construction project after multiple high-intensity competitions in various modules. His mentor Tang Weijie represented Sichuan in the third National Skills Competition in 2025 and won a bronze medal, demonstrating a good competitive heritage.

On September 16th, after 3 days of intense competition, all 85 events were completed, with 183 contestants (teams) winning first, second, and third prizes, and 416 contestants (teams) winning the championship prize. This competition is not only a arena for skill competition, but also presents five significant achievements: promoting excellence through competition, building bridges through competition, promoting integration through competition, setting standards through competition, and training soldiers through competition. It effectively promotes the deep coupling of the education chain, talent chain, industry chain, and innovation chain. In recent years, the province has attached great importance to the construction of a skilled talent team. Over the past five years, more than 5 million people have received subsidized training and 3.13 million new skilled talents have been added. A knowledge-based, skilled, and innovative "skilled Sichuan army" is accelerating its rise.
