Nanchong, Sichuan: Carry out patriotic education into universities theme preaching activities

In order to solemnly commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti Fascist War, guide college freshmen to inherit the red gene, promote the spirit of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and guide and help them tie the "first button" of their lives, on September 17th, the Nanchong Martyrs Memorial Facility Protection Center, together with Nanchong Vocational and Technical College, launched the "Inheriting Heroes and Advancing on a New Journey" patriotic education into universities theme preaching activity.

Huang Xin, Director of Sichuan Martyrs Memorial Facility Protection Center, Gou Guoqi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Nanchong Vocational and Technical College, and Wang Lin, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of Nanchong Veterans Affairs Bureau, attended the lecture event.

Guo Guoqi said that the deeds and spirit of the martyrs are the most precious wealth of the Chinese nation, worthy of eternal memory and admiration. As a frontier closely linked to the fate of the country, universities should draw strength from the deeds of martyrs. He encouraged the freshmen of the 2025 cohort to firmly uphold their ideals and beliefs, practice their original aspirations and missions, cultivate patriotism, interpret their sense of responsibility for serving the country, study hard and develop strong skills, and contribute the youthful strength of the people of Nanjing to promote the construction of a strong country and the great rejuvenation of the nation.

Wang Lin said that the red land of Nanchong has always had the footprints of heroes. More than 20000 children of Nanchong have sacrificed their precious lives for the revolution and construction, and have been named martyrs. Inheriting the aspirations of martyrs is the unwavering commitment of retired soldiers to maintain their true colors, and it is the conscious effort of students to strive for learning. He hopes that everyone can draw strength from the heroic stories of revolutionary martyrs, integrate the red genes into the blood of youth, and write a new chapter that is worthy of the martyrs and the times.

At the event, Li Zucheng, a model of military love and first-class disabled soldier in the Vietnam Self Defense Counterattack War, personally experienced the heroic process of a tough battle in the Laoshan Campaign; Li Juan, the great granddaughter of martyr Li Mingke, introduced the life of her great grandfather Li Mingke through precious historical images, and shared the true story of her family inheriting the revolutionary spirit in ordinary positions.

The heroic deeds of martyr Jiang Feifei are narrated by the narrator Du Yuping, which is deeply moving. The students also transformed into "red teenagers", reciting the martyr's letter "Mom! I miss you so much" and the poem "Mom, I'm leaving" with vivid emotions, deeply reminiscing about the revolutionary martyrs.

On site, Nanchong Vocational and Technical College also presented a precious school history document to the family of martyr Li Mingke as a tribute to the martyrs. This document records the historical imprint of martyr Li Mingke's work and life in school at that time.

The teenage stage is the 'budding period' of life. Carrying out patriotic education and promoting the theme of 'inheriting the heroic spirit and forging ahead on a new journey' in universities can help young students strengthen their ideals and beliefs, cultivate patriotism and love for the school, improve their abilities and hone their skills in learning and practice. The relevant person in charge of the Nanchong Martyrs Memorial Facility Protection Center stated that it is necessary to carry out ideological and political courses more frequently, so that more young students can understand the red history of Nanchong, tell the stories of Nanchong martyrs well, and pass on the red genes from generation to generation.
