Volunteer Service to Protect the Ecological Environment

Nanchong Daily News: On the morning of December 18th, the Nanchong Transportation Industry Volunteer Service Team joined hands with several other volunteer groups in the city to jointly carry out the "Make Xihe River More Beautiful" volunteer service activity.

On the day of the event, reporters at the scene saw volunteers wearing red vests and armed with tools such as garbage pickers and trash bags. They picked up trash such as peels, tissues, cigarette butts, and packaging bags along the green belts on both banks of the Xihe River from Xijing Bridge in Shunqing District to Xihe Sports Park, and sorted the waste into bags, contributing to the beautification of the Xihe River corridor. While cleaning up the garbage, the volunteers also held environmental protection signs to conduct public welfare propaganda, actively spreading knowledge about waste classification to passers-by and awakening more citizens' awareness of environmental protection.

The person in charge of the Nanchong Transportation Industry Volunteer Service Team told reporters that the area along Xijing Bridge to Xihe Sports Park is an important place for citizens to relax and entertain, and with many residential communities nearby, the amount of garbage generated is relatively large and concentrated, especially white trash which occasionally appears, not only damaging the aesthetics of the greenway but also posing a potential threat to the ecological environment of Xihe River. "We plan to carry out similar volunteer service activities here every month. By setting a good example, we aim to encourage more people to consciously participate in the actions to love and protect the river, making the urban environment more beautiful."
