Sichuan Nanchong: 31 Sparks Ignite the "Blue Sky of Life," Civilian Rescue Breaks Through to Universal Emergency Response
On April 19th, the 2025 recruitment and exchange meeting of the Nanchong Blue Sky Emergency Rescue Team was held at Fuxingyuan Hotel in Shunqing District. With the theme "Unite Public Welfare Forces to Protect the Blue Sky of Life," 63 volunteers actively participated, and 31 of them submitted applications to join the team on the spot, infusing fresh blood into the civilian rescue forces in the Northeast Sichuan region.
The exchange meeting received widespread support from all sectors of society: Red Bull provided functional beverages for the entire meeting; the Nanchong Water Delivery Team sponsored mineral water; Fuxingyuan Hotel provided the professional venue free of charge; and 001 Advertising was responsible for on-site visual design and material production. The meeting was hosted by Liu Jie from Wutong Culture and Haifu Zhou Hotel, who connected the entire event with professional quality.
Peng Xiaoping, President of the Nanchong Private Entrepreneurs Association and the Nanchong Self-Media Association, said in his speech: "New media will fully disseminate the positive energy of rescue efforts, allowing more people to see the responsibility of ordinary heroes."
At the meeting, core members of the Nanchong Blue Sky Rescue Team made a collective appearance. Deputy Captain Liu Dong, despite losing his voice due to laryngitis, still insisted on attending, and his story moved the entire venue—saving nine people during the Wenchuan earthquake, rescuing eight lives during the Bazhong flood disaster, and obtaining the qualification of a national first-level fire engineer. His experiences earned a standing ovation from the audience.
Captain Chen Yong released the team's three-year development plan, clarifying the goal of "building a professional civilian rescue force in Northeast Sichuan."
Chen Dan, President of the Choudu Rescue Association, was appointed as the honorary captain and combat instructor, and she shared cases of cross-regional joint rescue operations.
Led by Chen Yong, all team members took a solemn oath: "I volunteer to join the Blue Sky Rescue Team, follow the spirit of humanity, benevolence, and dedication, and strive for life-long protection of the safety of the people!" The resounding vows echoed in the venue, and many applicants were moved to tears.
Secretary-General Yang Meiling announced a significant adjustment to the recruitment policy: the rigid threshold of "volunteering for 200 hours" was canceled, and three levels of participation channels were opened, including "front-line rescue members," "community prevention volunteers," and "safety knowledge promoters." She promised to provide systematic training for new members. The "Everyone Can Respond to Emergencies Safety Education Base" under construction will prioritize resource access for team members. Yang Meiling called out: "From checking the electrical circuits at home to teaching children how to escape, every ordinary person can become a guardian of life."
Chen Yong said that the new member training will start in early May, and those who pass the assessment will participate in the joint drills during the flood season. He emphasized: "The 31 applicants are 31 sparks. In the future, we will conduct safety training in communities and schools, and promote the normalization of 'everyone understanding emergency response and everyone being able to help each other' in Nanchong."
