A Wonderful Encounter of Light and Shadow with History
In order to inherit and promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture, integrate patriotic sentiments into the daily ideological and political education of college students, and promote the in-depth integration of local chronicle culture and higher education, on the afternoon of April 10, the "Local Chronicles Lecture Forum" was held at the School of Arts Center. This event was jointly organized by the Nanchong City Chronicles Office and Nanchong Film Industry Vocational College, and co-organized by the Nanchong City Chronicles Museum (Nanchong City Local Conditions Education and Popular Science Base) and the Library of Nanchong Film Industry Vocational College. Wang Yingming, director of the Nanchong City Chronicles Office, and Zou Peng, deputy Party secretary and executive vice president of Nanchong Film Industry Vocational College, attended the event and delivered speeches. The event was presided over by Jie Xiaoqin, vice president of Nanchong Film Industry Vocical College.
In his speech, Wang Yingming expressed his gratitude to the school for its efforts and meticulous preparations for the "Local Chronicles Lecture Forum." He pointed out that the Nanchong City Chronicles Office, based on its mission of cultural inheritance, has carefully created the "Local Chronicles Lecture Forum" cultural lecture brand. It has delved into local historical and cultural resources and has always been committed to the mission of "letting history speak and making culture touch the heart." He emphasized that local chronicles are the "encyclopedias" that record the land and people of a region and are an important window to understand local historical culture. Moreover, there is a natural resonance between images and local chronicles. Last year, the city's chronicles office established a branch of the city's chronicles museum at the school and jointly built a research and study base. This event is a new measure to promote cooperation and exchange between local chronicles departments and universities and to promote the transformation of historical resources.
Zou Peng introduced the basic situation of the school in terms of professional construction, talent cultivation, scientific research, and other aspects. He pointed out that the school, as a branch of the Nanchong City Chronicles Museum, attaches great importance to this activity. This event is an important opportunity to deepen cooperation between the school and the local area. It not only provides a closer platform for communication between the two sides but also helps to inspire the enthusiasm of teachers and students to study local historical culture. It allows teachers and students to find a unique perspective of "light and shadow storytelling" in the culture of local chronicles and injects new kinetic energy into the cultivation of film talents with both professional quality and cultural background.
Subsequently, the Nanchong City Chronicles Museum donated more than 170 volumes of chronicles, journals, and local conditions books, including "Nanchong Yearbook 2024," "Nanchong Anecdotes," and "Nanchong Historical Records," to the library of Nanchong Film Industry Vocational College. This not only provides authoritative documentary support for teachers and students to study regional culture but also becomes an important window for systematically understanding the local conditions and customs of Nanchong. It has special value for inheriting historical and cultural traditions and deepening patriotic sentiments.
At the event, He Yang, a member of the Nanchong City Chronicles Culture Lecture Team and deputy director of the exhibition department of the Chronicles Museum, delivered a lecture titled "Chronicles of Nanchong·'Impact' the Future." Through a multidimensional presentation of sound, image, text, and graphics, he vividly outlined the civilization pulse of Nanchong, a thousand-year-old silk capital. He Yang systematically reviewed the historical changes of Nanchong, including "one establishment of a country, two establishments of a province, and three establishments of a prefecture or state." He also provided in-depth interpretations of unique cultural marks such as silk, Spring Festival, Three Kingdoms, red, and Jialing River cultures. He vividly restored the spiritual demeanor of historical figures such as Zhu De, Zhang Lan, and Luo Ruiqing. The lecture was rich in content and innovative in form, allowing teachers and students to deeply appreciate the profound historical foundation and unique charm of Nanchong. It won unanimous praise from the teachers and students present.
At the end of the event, the "knowledge quiz with prizes" segment became the biggest highlight, with a lively atmosphere on site. Interesting questions designed around Nanchong's history, folklore, and intangible cultural heritage sparked enthusiastic responses from the students. The Chronicles Museum awarded winners with cultural and creative products that combine intangible cultural heritage with modern aesthetics, bringing local culture into students' lives in a vivid form.
After the event, teachers and students expressed that this activity was a rare opportunity for patriotic education and cultural inheritance. The lecture was rich in content and easy to understand, with strong knowledge and popularization. It greatly deepened their understanding and awareness of local chronicles.
