The autumn breeze brings coolness, and the river scenery is picturesque. Recently, the affiliated primary school of Nanchong No.11 Middle School organized all first grade students to walk by the Jialing River and carry out an outdoor art sketching activity with the theme of "Discovering the Beauty Around Us". Children were allowed to capture the river breeze and light and shadow with their brushes in the nature classroom, and experience the unique charm of their hometown's mountains and waters.

Before the activity, the art teacher surveyed the site in advance, determined a safe sketching area, and prepared tools such as drawing boards, watercolor pens, and sketchbooks for the children. At the same time, through fun explanations, they guided everyone to observe the ripples of the river, the trees on the shore, and the bridges in the distance, and learned how to use lines and colors to record the scenery in front of them. Look, the river is shining brightly in the sunlight, like a small pearl scattered! "" The reeds on the shore sway in the wind, with soft lines! "The teacher's vivid description instantly ignited the children's interest in observation.

Arriving at the riverbank, the children sat down in the designated area in an orderly manner, some sitting on small stools, some holding up small drawing boards, their faces full of seriousness. They sometimes look up at the river scenery, sometimes lower their heads and focus on coloring. Some use smooth lines to depict bridges, some use varying shades of blue to express the layers of the river water, and some add their favorite boats to the canvas, making the picture full of childlike innocence. When encountering doubts, the teacher will bend down and patiently guide the children, hand in hand teaching them how to adjust the color scheme and outline the contours; Classmates also shared their ideas with each other. You praised the tree I drew as "very spirited", and I handed you a "blue pen that looks more like the river". Joyful laughter echoed along the riverbank.

Previously, I only came to play by the river with my parents. Today, I painted it with a paintbrush and I feel that the Jialing River is even more beautiful! "The child from Class 2 of Grade 1 excitedly showed their work to the teacher. After the event, the children carefully put away their artwork and expressed their intention to bring it home to share their "discoveries" and gains with their parents today.

This outdoor sketching activity not only allowed first grade students to step out of the classroom and enhance their observation and aesthetic abilities in nature, but also strengthened their sense of belonging in the process of getting close to the mountains and waters of their hometown. The person in charge of the affiliated primary school of No.11 Middle School stated that in the future, the school will continue to carry out more immersive practical activities, allowing children to learn through play and enjoy learning, and gain growth through experience and exploration.
