Promote Learning through Competition, Showcase Skills and Strive for the Future of Intelligent Manufacturing
To deepen the integration of industry and education and improve students' vocational skills, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing of Nanchong Film and Television Industry Vocational College successfully held a vocational skills competition on May 21. This competition set up two core events: digital design and manufacturing, and integrated application technology of robot systems, attracting numerous students to actively participate. A wonderful skills competition was staged in multiple training rooms in Mingde Building.
In the early stage of the competition, the school made full and meticulous preparations. In terms of venue layout, competition venues were set up in Computer Room 308 and Industrial Robot Training Room 107 of Mingde Building respectively. At the same time, the referee area was reasonably planned, and complete desks, chairs and office equipment were provided. In terms of personnel arrangement, a professional referee team was formed with clear division of labor; a check - in group and a host were set up to ensure the smooth progress of the competition process; the technical team was on standby all the time to ensure the stable operation of the equipment.
On the day of the competition, the contestants arrived and waited for the competition on time and in an orderly manner. Contestants of the digital design and manufacturing event completed the check - in in Training Room 308, while contestants of the integrated application technology of robot systems completed identity verification, equipment inspection, and drawing lots to determine the workstation number in Training Room 109, and received the test material packages. Subsequently, the referees and the host explained in detail the event details, competition discipline, safety matters, etc., laying a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the competition.
As the competition officially started, the atmosphere on the competition venue instantly became tense. In the digital design and manufacturing event, the contestants were fully focused on the design work within four hours, using professional knowledge and software skills to carefully craft every design detail. Contestants were required to complete tasks such as reverse engineering, 3D modeling, part design, motion simulation and product display, and 3D printing model slicing. From using DesignX SolidWorks to complete modeling and assembly design and motion simulation, to using MaterialiseMagics for pre - processing before 3D printing, the contestants' overall capabilities in the whole process of digital design and manufacturing were comprehensively examined.
In the integrated application technology of robot systems event, the contestants skillfully operated the equipment and carried out the integration and debugging of the robot system in an orderly manner within two hours, fully demonstrating their solid professional skills and good adaptability. Contestants were required to complete tasks such as module installation and connection, parameter setting of industrial robots, and trajectory application programming in sequence. From accurate cable connection and mechanical installation, to precise zero - point calibration and creation of tool and workpiece coordinates, to complex programming editing, each link tested the technical proficiency and problem - solving ability of the contestants. The requirement that the left - right error of the trajectory should not exceed 1 mm was a strict test of fine operation. During the competition, each working group strictly supervised and closely cooperated to ensure the fairness, justice, standardization and orderliness of the competition.
After the competition, the referee group, adhering to a rigorous and fair attitude, conducted a strict review of each event. In the digital design and manufacturing event, the results were determined through model inspection, printing verification, and scoring of stage achievements; in the integrated application technology of robot systems event, the results were comprehensively evaluated based on the contestants' performance, task completion degree, and robot operation effect. Finally, a group of contestants with outstanding skills stood out and gained honors and growth.
This competition is not only a "touchstone" for students' skill levels but also an important practice for the school to deepen the integration of industry and education and promote teaching reform. In the future, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing will continue to promote teaching and learning through competitions, focus on the cutting - edge technologies in the industry, optimize the talent training mode, and send more high - quality technical and skilled talents to the regional intelligent manufacturing industry, helping "Made in China" accelerate its transformation into "Intelligent Manufacturing in China".
