Youth Leads the Way, Sparking the Flame of Reading

In order to promote reading culture, enhance cultural literacy, stimulate students' interest in reading, and facilitate cooperation and sharing of resources between schools and local communities, on the morning of April 24th, a World Book Day themed activity titled "Youth Leads the Way, Sparking the Flame of Reading" was successfully held in the library of Nanchong Film Industry Vocational College. This event was guided by the Communist Youth League Committee of Shunqing District, Nanchong City, and the Propaganda and United Front Department of the Party Committee of Nanchong Film Industry Vocational College, hosted by the Communist Youth League Working Committee of Banzeng Subdistrict, Shunqing District, and jointly organized by the library of Nanchong Film Industry Vocational College and Banzeng Primary School in Shunqing District.

Nearly a hundred students from Banzeng Primary School in Shunqing District visited the library of Nanchong Film Industry Vocational College under the guidance of staff and volunteers.

At the beginning of the event, He Weidong, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Nanchong Film Industry Vocational College, delivered a speech. He emphasized that university libraries, as treasuries of knowledge, bear the mission of cultural inheritance and innovation. This activity combines university resources with basic education, not only providing students with a platform to access high-quality reading resources but also achieving the transmission and sharing of knowledge and culture through a "hand-in-hand" approach, injecting new momentum into the comprehensive development of young people.

During the event, library staff led everyone on a tour of the book repository, leisure reading area, periodical and newspaper room, and other sections, introducing the basic situation of the library, methods, and borrowing procedures. To enhance everyone's reading experience, library staff had carefully selected books suitable for children, including picture books, storybooks, classic masterpieces, and popular science knowledge.

Subsequently, the event moved to the third-floor electronic reading room of the library. Teacher Ding Yi from the library conducted a special reading sharing session for the students, focusing on recommending popular children's literary works such as "To the Young Readers," "I Have Friendship to Rent," and "Chinese Ancient Fables."

In the interactive exchange session, young readers actively participated in questioning and discussion, demonstrating a strong interest in reading. The atmosphere was lively and warm.

Later, the students freely toured the library under the guidance of volunteers. The spacious and bright space, neatly arranged bookshelves, and diverse collection immediately immersed the students in a rich reading atmosphere. Inside the library, students either curiously browsed through the books on various shelves or quietly read classic works in the reading area, fully exploring the essence of knowledge and opening the window of wisdom. This activity aimed to accompany students with the fragrance of books, guide them to befriend classics, cultivate good reading habits, and make reading an important companion on the path of students' growth.

This reading promotion activity not only provided students with a platform to access high-quality reading resources but also served as an important opportunity to promote cooperation and sharing of resources between government and schools, schools and local communities, and among schools. In the future, the Communist Youth League Working Committee of Banzeng Subdistrict will continue to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with relevant units, conduct more diverse reading activities, and contribute to promoting universal reading and enhancing the cultural literacy of young people.
