Nanchong No.11 Middle School: World Book Day, an Appointment with Reading
On April 23rd, the 30th World Book Day, the campus of Nanchong No.11 Middle School was filled with a strong atmosphere of reading. In order to further promote the construction of a book-loving campus and stimulate students' interest in reading, the school organized students to visit the library during the morning break to conduct a unique reading activity.
As soon as the bell for the end of the second class rang on the morning of that day, the students, full of anticipation, hurried to the library. Inside the library, the tables and chairs were neatly arranged, and the cozy and elegant decor was refreshing, instantly dispelling the fatigue of studying. Everyone couldn't wait to start their reading journey.
In front of the bookshelves, the students carefully selected books, ranging from literary classics to popular science books, from historical biographies to youth novels. The wide variety of books met everyone's diverse reading preferences. After finding their favorite books, the students sat down quietly and quickly immersed themselves in the world of books. For a while, the library was packed, with some students even sitting on the floor, but their focus on reading was not diminished in the slightest. Many students also brought notebooks with them, occasionally pausing to copy down touching and beautiful sentences, and recording their insights and reflections from reading.
Wang Yuetong, a student from Class 4, Grade 1, said excitedly, "Usually, we are busy with studies and rarely have the chance to sit down and read a book quietly. Today in the library, I felt particularly relaxed and could fully enjoy the pleasure of reading. This experience is great, and I will definitely come more often in the future." Lei Xinyi from Class 8, Grade 2, also shared, "Open reading allows me to access a lot of knowledge outside the textbooks, which broadens my horizons. I hope the school will organize more activities like this in the future."
This World Book Day activity not only enriched the students' spare time but also ignited their passion for reading. A person in charge of Nanchong No.11 Middle School said that the school will take this activity as an opportunity to continue carrying out various reading promotion activities, create a better reading environment for students, make reading a regular part of campus life, and let the fragrance of books permeate every corner of the campus.
