Youth's Resolute Journey, Harvesting Growth
In order to temper students' willpower and cultivate team spirit, from March 25 to April 8, Nanchong No. 11 Middle School organized students from the first, second, and third years of high school, as well as the entire junior high school department, in batches to head to the school's outdoor training base for a one-day spring outdoor trekking activity. Themed "Youth's Resolute Journey, Harvesting Growth," the event featured a variety of practical projects such as hiking, cooking outdoors, and picking fruits, allowing students to get close to nature and gain valuable life experiences.
Segment 1: Assembly in the Morning Light: Ready to Go
At 7:30 a.m., students from all grades gathered energetically on the school playground. Zhou Hao, the head of the Security Department, conducted a detailed safety education session, emphasizing the discipline and precautions for the activity. The reminder of "safety first, help each other" echoed over the playground. Subsequently, students from each class lined up and boarded the buses in an orderly manner, filled with anticipation and excitement as they set off towards the training base.
Segment 2: Trekking Five Kilometers: Sweat and Perseverance
Upon arrival at the base by bus, the real challenge began. Under the guidance of their teachers, the students embarked on a 5,000-meter trek. The early spring sun shone through the forest paths as the students marched in neat rows with determined steps. Zhang, a student from the first year of high school, said, "At first, it felt quite easy, but halfway through, my legs started to ache. However, seeing everyone else persisting, I gritted my teeth and kept going." Along the way, students encouraged each other, with those who had more energy proactively supporting their less energetic peers, fully demonstrating the spirit of unity and mutual assistance among the students of No. 11 Middle School.
Segment 3: Cooking Outdoors: The Flavor of Collaboration
At noon, the students returned from their trek to the designated cooking area. Each group had clear responsibilities: some were in charge of making the fire, others prepared the ingredients, and some took on the cooking. Although their movements were a bit awkward, everyone was fully engaged. Li, a student from Class 3 of the second year of high school, said excitedly, "This is my first time cooking outdoors. Although the dishes I stir-fried were a bit salty, the experience of working with my classmates was truly wonderful!" Amidst the curling smoke, laughter and joy filled the air, making the simple meals especially delicious because they were infused with the sweat of teamwork.
Segment 4: Orchard Picking: The Joy of Harvest
In the afternoon, the students arrived at the orange orchard. Golden fruits hung from the branches, emitting an enticing fragrance. Under the guidance of the fruit farmers, the students learned how to identify ripe oranges and experienced the fun of picking. Wang, a student from the first year of junior high school, held up an orange he had just picked, his face beaming with satisfaction: "The fruits I pick with my own hands taste especially sweet!" At this moment, the students not only harvested the fruits but also understood the value of labor.
Segment 5: Returning with Full Hands: Marks of Growth
As the sun set in the west, the students returned to school by bus, laden with their harvests. Though physically tired, their eyes sparkled with excitement. Chen, a student from Class 5 of the third year of high school, reflected on the journey back, "This trek has taught me that learning is like hiking, requiring persistence and determination; life is like cooking outdoors, needing cooperation and sharing."
Vice Principal Ye Yunsheng summarized, "This spring trek was not only a physical exercise but also a vivid lesson in life education. The resilience, mutual assistance, and optimism that the students demonstrated during the activity are precisely the values of our education." It is understood that Nanchong No. 11 Middle School will continue to conduct such practical activities, allowing education to extend beyond the classroom and enabling students to grow through experience.
