Home school co education, starting from the 'heart'

On November 30th, Longmen Middle School in Nanchong, Sichuan Province held a series of activities with the theme of "Home School Joint Education Starting from the Heart" to strengthen communication between families and schools, unite efforts in educating students, and promote their physical and mental health growth. The activity includes three parts: lectures on mental health, class parent meetings, and expert consultations. It attracted parents of first and second year high school students, as well as teachers and students of the "Youth Leap Project", to participate together, presenting a warm and in-depth home school co education practice. Principal Zhang Limei attended the event and delivered a speech. The event invited Zhou Hao, the director of Gaoping District Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Nanchong City, to give a special lecture.

The event kicked off in the conference room on the first floor of Yucai Building. At the meeting, the chairman of the labor union, Wan Caixia, read out the decision to renew the appointment of Comrade Zhou Hao as the Vice Principal of Psychology at Nanchong Longmen Middle School. Principal Zhang Limei presented the appointment letter to Dean Zhou Hao and took a group photo to commemorate the occasion.

Subsequently, Dean Zhou Hao gave a special lecture on mental health titled "Crossing the 'Double Storm' - Healthy Coexistence between Menopause and Adolescence". As the Vice President of Psychology and an expert in the field of maternal and child health, Director Zhou, based on rich clinical experience and educational cases, analyzed the psychological characteristics and behavioral manifestations of adolescent students' "growth and transformation" and menopausal parents' "physiological transformation" in a simple and understandable way. Focusing on reality, he guided parents on how to regulate emotions, improve communication, grasp the key to healthy coexistence with their children, and turn the "confrontational relationship" between each other into a "partnership". The lecture content is close to reality and highly practical, which has aroused widespread resonance among parents and received continuous applause on site.

At 3:00 pm, the first and second grades of high school held a class parent meeting simultaneously. As the main speaker, each class teacher had in-depth face-to-face communication with parents. The class teachers provided a detailed introduction to the students' academic progress, behavioral habits, and growth performance, shared class management concepts and teaching arrangements, and engaged in lively discussions with parents on topics such as cultivating good study habits and improving mental health literacy. Parents actively spoke up and communicated, further consolidating educational consensus and strengthening the concept of home school co education through sincere communication.

At the same time, the free clinic activities held next to Longteng Building have also attracted many teachers, students, and parents. A professional team composed of experts and department backbone from Gaoping District Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Nanchong City provides free consultation and examination services for vision, oral health, bone density, pediatrics, gynecology, traditional Chinese medicine, nutrition and other projects. Experts patiently answer questions and provide professional medical services to safeguard the health of teachers and students, allowing parents and students to feel the dual care from both the school and the hospital on campus.

This event lasted for 3 hours, with three major segments organically connected and complementary to each other. It not only built a diverse and interactive communication platform between home and school, but also provided strong guarantees for students' physical and mental health.

The smooth implementation of this activity has further strengthened the connection between home and school, consolidated the joint efforts of education, and laid a more solid foundation for the comprehensive growth and healthy development of students.
