Yingshan, Sichuan: the delegation won 13 gold, 14 silver and 15 copper at the 6th Paralympic Games in Nanchong

On July 22, the 6th Nanchong Paralympic Games and the 1st Special Olympics opened in Yilong county. The Yingshan delegation worked hard and made progress during the 4-day race, winning 13 gold medals, 14 silver medals and 15 bronze medals.

The Yingshan delegation sent 42 disabled athletes to participate in the games. At the sixth Paralympic Games, the athletes competed in track and field, swimming, table tennis, badminton, shooting, hard bowling and Chinese chess, winning 6 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze; At the first Special Olympics in Nanchong, she participated in table tennis, badminton, track and field and bowling competitions, and won 7 gold, 9 silver and 8 bronze medals. The total number of medals ranked first in Nanchong counties (cities and districts).

It is reported that in order to prepare for the games, Yingshan County has formulated a scientific and effective work plan, held mobilization meetings for many times, started the athlete selection process, completed registration, medical classification confirmation, and carried out targeted training. At the beginning of July, the County disabled persons' Federation also organized athletes for pre competition intensive training.

In order to promote the cause of sports for the disabled, Yingshan County makes full use of various sports facilities in the county, actively organizes disabled friends to participate in physical exercise activities, and carries out sports rehabilitation activities on campus. Each class of the county special education school offers more than 6 physical education courses every week to ensure at least 2 hours of physical exercise activities every day, and simultaneously carries out regular sports training and special sports skill training. The athletes of the school participated in the roller skating competition of the 2024 Special Olympics in Sichuan Province and won 5 gold medals in different groups.
