Healthy Diet Science Popularization Lecture Boosts Quality Life for the Elderly
In the auditorium of the Nanchong City Social Welfare Center, a special lecture captured the attention of many senior friends. On December 30th, the series of health diet science popularization lectures for the elderly, co-hosted by the Nanchong City Social Welfare Center, Nanchong Science and Technology Vocational and Technical College, and the Nanchong City Cooking Association, officially commenced. The inaugural lecture featured Xie Junxian, the secretary-general of the Nanchong City Cooking Association, who brought a practical and entertaining health diet science popularization to the elderly with its rich professional knowledge and vivid explanation methods.
"The dietary health of the elderly is related to their quality of life and physical health," said Teacher Xie Junxian at the beginning of the lecture. He emphasized that a reasonable diet combination is crucial for maintaining the nutritional balance and health of the elderly. During the lecture, Teacher Xie not only shared the basic principles of elderly diets but also highlighted the importance of food diversity and moderate intake.
After the theoretical explanation, Teacher Xie personally demonstrated a dish suitable for the elderly—a carrot and meat pancake. As he cooked, he explained the key points of each step and the special dietary needs of the elderly. "This dish is light, tender, easy to digest, and rich in carotene and high-quality protein, making it very suitable for the elderly," Teacher Xie introduced.
When plate after plate of visually appealing and aromatic carrot and meat pancakes were served, the elderly eagerly tasted them, creating a lively atmosphere. "These pancakes are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and they taste great!" Grandma Zhang praised as she savored the dish. Grandpa Li remarked, "Today's lecture taught me a lot. I didn't realize there was so much to consider in dietary combinations; it's very useful for us seniors."
The faces of the elderly were filled with satisfaction, and they expressed that such activities not only allowed them to learn health knowledge but also to taste delicious food, which was a win-win situation. "We are looking forward to the next lectures and hope to learn more practical health diet knowledge," Aunt Wang said.
"We hope that through this series of lectures, the elderly can not only gain health knowledge but also enjoy the pleasure of cooking, making their later years more colorful," Teacher Xie Junxian stated at the end of the lecture.
