Sichuan Shunqing: Multi-Department Collaboration Launches Free "Two Cancers" Screening Event in Communities
To safeguard women's health and facilitate the early detection and treatment of cervical and breast cancer (referred to as the "two cancers"), from April 17 to 18, the Shunqing District Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, collaborated with Xinjian Subdistrict, Xishan Subdistrict, and Xinjian Community Health Service Center to carry out a free "two cancers" screening and health education campaign in local communities, benefiting over 2,000 women.
Three-Tier Collaboration Brings Services to Doorsteps
The event adopted a "maternal and child health institution + subdistrict + community" three-tier collaboration model. First, a professional medical team from the Shunqing District Maternal and Child Health Hospital was dispatched, equipped with portable ultrasound and cervical testing devices, to provide on-site screening in the communities. Second, subdistrict offices made full efforts to mobilize residents through community notices, WeChat groups, and door-to-door promotions to ensure awareness. Third, community health service centers efficiently managed on-site registration, follow-up visits, and subsequent care, making the screening services more considerate.
Online and Offline Efforts Raise Health Awareness
To improve screening coverage, the campaign combined online and offline promotional methods. Online: Subdistrict public accounts and community WeChat groups disseminated prevention knowledge and appointment guidelines, with readership exceeding 10,000. Offline: Consultation booths were set up in community squares and health service stations, where experts distributed pamphlets and answered questions face-to-face. Many women expressed appreciation, saying, "We used to worry about the hassle of check-ups, but now we can get screened just by walking downstairs. We’ve also learned about cancer prevention—so convenient!"
Remarkable Results: Timely Intervention for Abnormal Cases
To date, Shunqing District has screened over 3,600 individuals, with all detected abnormal cases promptly referred for further diagnosis and treatment. Through the screening services and health education, many women have gained scientific knowledge about cancer prevention and developed the habit of regular check-ups, truly achieving the goal of "early detection, early intervention, and early treatment." The event has garnered widespread praise from the public, fully demonstrating the government’s commitment to women's health and the efficiency of multi-department collaboration.
