Nanchong, Sichuan: leveraging the ecological environment with the "green bracelet" to create a new pattern of common governance and sharing by the whole people

In June, the fruit city is green in landscape and green in vegetation. On June 5, on the occasion of the 55th world environment day of the 6th Five Year Plan period, the home event of Nanchong's 2026 environment day and the launching ceremony of the city's "green bracelet" ecological environment volunteer service promotion were grandly held in the people's square of Nanchong. The theme of this event is "comprehensive green transformation and co construction of a beautiful China". Relevant leaders of Sichuan Provincial Department of ecological environment, Sichuan Municipal People's Congress, Sichuan municipal government and Sichuan municipal CPPCC attended the event. They went to a green agreement with representatives from all walks of life to seek a new chapter in the construction of ecological civilization.

At the event site, the city wide promotion of the "green bracelet" ecological environment volunteer service in Nanchong was officially launched. As a volunteer service brand of rural ecological environment innovated and cultivated by Nanchong, "green bracelet" effectively opened up the "last mile" of ecological governance, effectively solved the governance problem of "cadres and the masses", built a good pattern of people's participation, CO governance and sharing, and successfully included in the outline of the "Tenth Five Year Plan" of Sichuan Province. In order to ensure the promotion, Nanchong Charity Federation has set up a special fund for "green bracelet", and representatives of five enterprises, including Sichuan ouwang electric technology, Sichuan grass crop protection, Sichuan SHUNQI construction project, Sichuan Deyun water construction investment, and Sichuan Anhan industrial investment group, raised their signboards on the spot. At the same time, seven industry experts and volunteer pioneers from universities, scientific research institutes, the media and grass-roots units were employed as special observers of the "green bracelet" to further improve the long-term mechanism of social supervision and professional guidance.

Ecological prosperity leads to civilization, and ecological beauty leads to Nanchong's beauty. In recent years, Nanchong has firmly practiced the idea of ecological civilization, deeply cultivated the construction of Jialing River ecological green economic belt demonstration city, and handed over a heavy green answer. The city's atmospheric environmental quality has been steadily improved for nine consecutive years. The main stream of the Jialing River has maintained class II and above water quality all the year round. The excellent rate of water quality at 12 national and provincial assessment sections has been maintained at 100% for seven consecutive years, and the forest coverage rate has been stable at more than 41.8%. Nanchong took the lead in the province to achieve full coverage of waste incineration power generation, and made great efforts to control sand mining chaos. It was selected as a positive case of the national Yangtze River economic belt warning film, and was recognized by the Ministry of ecological environment as a positive typical case in the third round of Central ecological environmental protection supervision in 2024. In 2025, the special assessment of ecological environmental protection ranked among the top in the province.

Standing at a new starting point, Nanchong is writing a new chapter of modernization with a higher position of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. The relevant person in charge of Nanchong Ecological Environment Bureau said that it would closely follow the main line of carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion and growth, anchor the rectification of problems fed back by the central and provincial environmental protection supervisors, and continue to fight for the blue sky, clear water and pure land. At the same time, we will further implement the "ten actions to reach the peak of carbon", further promote the integrated protection and restoration of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grass and sand, deepen the coordinated governance of the Jialing River Basin, accelerate the optimization and upgrading of industrial and energy structures, cultivate emerging industries such as hydrogen energy, create zero carbon parks and zero carbon factories, steadily promote the comprehensive green transformation of economy and society, and make the blue sky and white clouds, green water and green mountains the most inclusive people's well-being in the fruit city.
